How to comp a signed card

Autographs are harder to price than base cards because there are more variables, and getting one wrong throws the comp off badly. Work in this order:

1. Pin the product and the insert. “Contenders Rookie Ticket” and “Donruss Rated Rookie Signature” are different markets. So are a Rookie Ticket and its Cracked Ice parallel.

Grading a signed card

1. Certified or graded only once you’re past pocket change. A factory auto in a reputable slab removes almost every trick at once.

4. Comp grade-for-grade and tier-for-tier, using sold prices.
5. Read the seller as carefully as the card: sharp front-and-back photos, visible cert number, established feedback.
