A graded card is a card that has been sent to a third-party grader — PSA, Beckett/BAS, or SGC are the three that matter for modern basketball — authenticated, assigned a numeric grade, and sealed in a tamper-evident slab. For a Banchero collector the slab does two jobs at once: it settles what the card is, and it settles what condition it is in.

Which grader should I use for a modern Banchero rookie?
PSA, Beckett/BAS and SGC are the three with liquid markets for modern basketball. PSA has the deepest population and the broadest buyer recognition; BAS subgrades appeal to collectors who want the centering, corners, edges and surface broken out; SGC is well regarded and often faster. All three produce slabs that trade.
Is buying already-graded safer than buying raw?
For anything expensive, yes. The slab settles identification, condition and — on signed cards — authentication, all of which are otherwise the seller's word against a photo. You pay for that certainty in the price.
What decides whether a raw card is worth submitting?
