Paolo Banchero was the #1 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft out of Duke, joining the Orlando Magic as the franchise’s new cornerstone. He won 2023 NBA Rookie of the Year, has earned an All-Star selection, and — as an Italian-American — also represents Italy in international play. Young, active, and central to a rising Magic team, he is one of the most-chased players in the modern hobby.

This page is the hub. Below is the whole Banchero card landscape in the order collectors actually work through it, with the deep reference page for each layer.
Start here — pick your route
- “I want to buy my first Banchero rookie.” → Paolo Banchero Rookie Cards: The 2022-23 Chase for the strategy, then the brand-by-brand rookie checklist to pick a lane.
- “I already have a card and don’t know what it is.” → Is my Paolo Banchero card a rookie card? — a three-question test on uniform, RC mark and season.
- “I want to know what it’s worth.” → Paolo Banchero card values, which prices by tier and grade against live eBay listings rather than a stale price guide.
- “I’m chasing the signature.” → Paolo Banchero autographs for which products contain a real one.
The rookie year: 2022-23
Every true Banchero rookie is dated 2022-23. There’s no single “Banchero rookie” — there’s a whole class of them, spread across Panini’s lineup, and they sort cleanly into three tiers:
- Entry tier — 2022-23 NBA Hoops and Donruss (home of the Rated Rookie design). High print, affordable raw, the cheapest honest way to own an authenticated rookie-year card. Panini Chronicles sits here too, but it’s a sampler — many sub-brand designs under one umbrella product, which is exactly why its listings confuse people.
- Chrome flagships — Prizm, Select, Mosaic and Donruss Optic. This is the middle of the market and where most serious collecting happens — chrome stock, deep parallel ladders, and the cards people picture when they say “Banchero rookie.”
- Premium & autographs — Contenders rookie tickets and National Treasures rookie patch autos. Low print, on-card signatures, and the top of the Banchero market.
The full index, one entry per brand with a live eBay link for each, is the rookie card checklist.
The rainbow: Prizm parallels
Prizm is built as a ladder of the same card — base, the iconic unnumbered Silver, then colored and patterned parallels, then a serial-numbered tier, up to a one-of-one apex. Knowing which rung a card sits on matters more than the design, because that’s what separates a common from a chase. Paolo Banchero Prizm parallels, tier by tier maps the whole rainbow with live listings per tier. The same tier logic — with different names — repeats in Select, Mosaic and Optic.
Autographs and RPAs
Signed Banchero cards aren’t scattered at random; they live in specific product families. The autographs reference breaks down every signed family, on-card versus sticker, and how the rookie patch autos are built. Because his is one of the more-forged modern signatures, pair it with how to spot fake Banchero autographs before you buy anything raw and signed.
What is not a rookie card
Three things get mislabeled constantly in listings:
- Duke / Draft Picks cards — 2022-23 Panini Prizm Draft Picks and its Chronicles Draft Picks sibling are his first licensed cards, but they’re college products with no RC mark. Pre-rookies, not rookies.
- Later-year cards — 2023-24, 2024-25 and beyond are second- and third-year cards. Collectible, not rookies, no matter what the listing title says. The season-by-season breakdown is in Banchero cards by year.
- The Topps/Fanatics era — the NBA license moved, so recent-season products carry different brand names. Also covered year by year on that same page.
Condition, grading and tracking
His cards are entirely modern, which means centering and edges decide value — the gap between a PSA 10 and a 9 is often a millimeter of border.
- Measure a card before you submit it with the card centering tool.
- Decide whether submitting is worth the fee at all with the grading ROI calculator.
- Keep a running tally of what you hold with the collection value tracker.
